Located in sunny Monterey, CA, home of the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS). The chapter offers social gatherings, professional development opportunities, and discussions with senior leaders.
Many of the chapter’s members study at NPS, which offers world-class executive education and professional development programs. Alongside students from various warfare communities from the Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, and Navy, many Surface Warfare professionals studying at NPS complete their Joint Professional Military Education (Phase I) in-person with professors from the Naval War College.
One important institution for Surface Warriors at NPS is the Naval Warfare Studies Institute, which applies NPS education and research to operational problems. The Meyer Scholar program at NPS, named for Rear Adm. Wayne E. Meyer, offers Surface Warriors focused professional development opportunities in Combat Systems design and operation.

The New London Chapter of the Surface Navy Association primarily consists of U.S. Coast Guard officers and enlisted, both active and retired, in the New London, CT area. Our activities center around providing professional development and camaraderie amongst the chapter’s membership, cadets attending the USCG Academy, Officer Candidates and others involved in the maritime profession. Each year, the chapter organizes “Cuttermen’s Call” events which coincide with bi-weekly classes of prospective afloat command cadre courses. These events allow for ample sea stories and excellent mentoring and fellowship. The chapter also coordinates with SNA National and the National Cuttermen Chapter of the SNA to encourage cadets and officer candidates to pursue a career afloat, and serves to demonstrate the value of joining an outstanding seagoing professional organization such as SNA.
