The Surface Navy Association Scholar receives an academic scholarship awarded for demonstrated leadership, community service, academic achievement and a commitment to pursuing higher educational objectives. This award is a renewable academic scholarship up to $2,500 per year for a maximum of four years provided a cumulative 3.0 grade point average is maintained.

Application packages must be submitted by March 1 of the current year. All applications will be submitted electronically by using the APPLY NOW button above. Email and fax submissions will not be accepted.
To be eligible for the Surface Navy Association scholarship, applicants must be members or dependents of members, with membership in its second consecutive year or beyond.
The member must be: active duty, retired, or honorably discharged and a Surface Warfare Officer, Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, or a Permanent Cutterman. Also, must have at least three years of active duty on U.S. Navy or Coast Guard surface ships, though the service need not be consecutive. For children or spouses of personnel who died while serving, no minimum service period is required.
This scholarship is intended for full-time undergraduate or postgraduate studies. Fulltime status may be waived in the case of spouses as long as they maintain a course load of six semester hours. Articulate in 500 words why you should be chosen for the SNA Scholarship.
Provide a detailed list of your community activities, athletics, and jobs, including dates and time commitments.
Submit three recommendation letters from non-relatives who can speak to your character, leadership, and citizenship.
Include the date and documentation of SNA member's SWO, ESWS, or Cutterman Qualification.
List of SNA member's sea service dates and ships, ensuring three years of service on surface ships of the USN or USCG.

College Applicants/Spouses | A transcript of the grades of your four most recent semesters of school to include high school transcript if 4 semesters of college have not been completed. |
