Please mark your calendar for our next SNA Battleship IOWA Chapter meeting on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 6 pm followed by a viewing of “Battle: Los Angeles”.

We can't miss an opportunity to celebrate the 250th birthday of America's Marine Corps. And we are going to do it with another "Movie in the Wardroom"! We are also going to host members of the local Marine Corps League chapter.

After some debate about the best Marine Corp movie, the junior Marines won out and we're watching "Battle: Los Angeles". It is a sci-fi thriller where US Marines take on space aliens to protect LA. The movie has been both panned and praised but it is generally acknowledged as a reasonably good depiction of modern combat…before the new age of drones

We are going to make it extra fun by adding a pre-movie tabletop exercise with pizza where we add the US Navy and US Coast Guard to the mix. We may be celebrating the Marine Corps 250 but we can't let them have all the fun in the battle to save Los Angeles! And we may have time to debate the most important question of all, "What would it take to bring an IOWA-class battleship back into service to battle space aliens?"
